Austin, Texas (WiredPRNews.com) – Austin Self Defense widely known for: Haganah, Krav Maga & Kick-Box and Conditioning, moves to a larger facility in the Lakeline Mall Area with expanded amenities and adds a new training program called, Israeli Tactical Knife (ITK).
Austin Self Defense (ASD) known for: Haganah, Krav Maga & Kick-Box and Conditioning, has announced a move to a new, more accessible and much larger self defense training facility, which allows adequate expansion space for future training programs.
“We’ve been planning this move and expansion to provide more training options and convenient access,” said Dan Kiser, President of ASD. “Our new location at the interchange of Highway 45, Highway 183, Highway 183-A and Highway 620 gives easy access to members and residents of Northwest Austin and surrounding areas.”
ASD is conveniently located at Lakeline Mall in the Lakeline Village Shopping Center just west of Fuddruckers. The new training facility is comprised of 5800 sq. ft. and has two training areas so classes can run simultaneously. ASD also has enough additional space to add another even larger training area in the future.
Members have access to two bathroom/changing areas, day lockers, a pro shop and refreshment area.
ASD is introducing their new training programs, which compliment their ongoing and current programs:
Israeli Tactical Knife is a high level class that teaches the defender how to use a knife as a defensive weapon if the attacker deploys an edged weapon. The best strategic mindset in any survival situation is to at least even the odds if not better the odds. This co-ed class completely covers all skills needed to significantly improve one’s odds of surviving and to dominate an encounter against a knife-wielding attacker.
Combat Fitness, a co-ed functional conditioning and fitness class, is an hour-long class of a very meticulous set of exercises. It is an intense workout put together to challenge endurance and build stamina to be able to endure a real fight.
The curriculum is a cultivation of Mike Lee Kanarek’s (Founder of Haganah) entire combative career, both military and Martial Arts. This class is non-stop action; with its entire focus on functional strength.
The unique concept to Combat Fitness is the fact that a person competes only against him or herself…unlike other extreme workouts out there, ASD does not believe in its students competing against each other or against the clock. This breeds neglecting technique for competitive performance and may result in injury. (Coming – Summer 2010)
