The Texas governor candidates declared wins against party rivals Tuesday.
Dallas, Texas (WiredPRNews.com) – Rick Perry and Bill White both declared victories in the runoff for their party nominations for Texas governor Tuesday. As reported by the Dallas Morning News, the current Texas governor and former Houston mayor beat out their Republican and Democratic opponents Kay Bailey Hutchison and Farouk Shami and others in the Texas Primary elections.
Perry, who is the longest-serving governor Texas has had, is quoted in the report as stating during a Tuesday night victory speech, “From Driftwood, Texas, to Washington, D.C., we are sending you a message: Stop messing with Texas… Conservatism has never been stronger than it is today. And we’re taking our country back, one vote at a time, one election at a time.”
White is further quoted in the report as stating of Perry’s record, “We know now your tactics of divide and conquer… We understand the tactic about distracting from the truth. We understand that no Texan is entitled to claim a monopoly on Texas values. It’s time that we move this state forward.”
