Rep. Randy Neugebauer admits to shouting ‘baby killer’ during a debate on health care.
Washington (WiredPRNews.com) – Texas Rep. Randy Neugebauer admitted he was the person heard shouting ‘baby killer’ during a debate on health care Sunday. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the Republican issued a statement of apology for the incident citing his actions were not directed at Rep. Bart Stupak, who was giving a floor speech at the time of the occurrence.
Neugebauer is quoted by the AP as stating in his statement issued Monday, “While I remain heartbroken over the passage of this bill and the tragic consequences it will have for the unborn, I deeply regret that my actions were mistakenly interpreted as a direct reference to Congressman Stupak himself.” He further noted the House chamber, “is a place of decorum and respect. The timing and tone of my comment last night was inappropriate.”
