AlgaeCal Calcium Supplement Certified Organic by USDA and IFOAM

Vancouver B.C. March 25, 2010 (WiredPRNews.com) — In a calcium supplement market that is dominated by calcium carbonate (limestone rock), laboratory made calcium forms and alternative calciums with no clinical evidence of increasing bone mineral density, AlgaeCal Inc brings a much different calcium product to the table.

AlgaeCal Inc manufactures AlgaeCal Plus, the world’s first bone health product containing a certified organic calcium that is a pure plant source of calcium and bone building minerals derived from a unique South American algae. The latin name for this algae is Algas Calcareas.sp, and this algae has recently been certified organic by the USDA and IBD/IFOAM. This certification declares that AlgaeCal plant calcium is produced without the use of genetically modified organisms and that the harvesting process does not harm the environment in any way.

The algae is harvested by hand in waist deep water on the shores of a remote area in South America. We employ a team of trained locals who live-harvest this marine algae from the beaches at low tide. The crop is rotated from beach to beach to be sure to not interfere with the natural cycle of marine algae. There is no chemical treatment, no sieving process and no additives or extractions that might create impurities. AlgaeCal is a completely natural product making it a perfect vegetarian calcium supplement.

AlgaeCal Plus was originally introduced as a natural alternative to the hundreds of calcium products composed of limestone, calcium carbonate, and has been very well accepted by a fast growing market of calcium buyers that are looking for a natural osteoporosis treatment without the use of bisphosphonate drugs and their possible adverse side effects.

Dean Neuls CEO of AlgaeCal Inc adds “not only is AlgaeCal Plus appealing because it is a natural product but more importantly there is significant clinical evidence that it works, and that it is a viable option for osteoporosis treatment and prevention.”

Clinical Evidence

Results of an Integrative Health Technologies independent clinical study investigating the effectiveness of Algas Calcareas showed that this plant source calcium can reverse bone loss and help combat osteoporosis. Algas Calcareas also demonstrated above average calcium absorption results in a study by the respected seaweed analyzing institute, C.E.V.A. in France. Currently there are several additional studies focused on the effectiveness of Algas Calcareas that are ongoing and will be available shortly.
