Rick Perry and Bill White took different stances on educational issues in Texas on Saturday.
Austin (WiredPRNews.com) – Texas Governor Rick Perry and Democratic governor candidate Bill White expressed varying views about public education in the state of Texas while speaking at events in Austin over the weekend. As reported by NBC DFW News, the state’s top two gubernatorial candidates spoke Saturday about the progress of education.
Perry is quoted in the report as remarking to group of middle school students of the matter, “We are bound and determined to prepare you for a very bright future… Our public education is continually improving. It is getting better as each day and year goes by in Texas, as a result of increased accountability.”
White is further quoted as stating to the Association of Texas Professional Educators, “The solution to the dropout rate is not to lie about it… We need to be realistic. We don’t have room for lost kids in our system.”
