Some Dallas residents criticized the singer’s choice of location for her new controversial video.
Dallas, Texas (WiredPRNews.com) – Some local residents are criticizing Dallas born singer Erykah Badu for her choice of location for her latest video. As reported by the Dallas Morning News, the singer’s decision to shoot the video in which she strips naked, and falls to the ground after gun shots are fired near the site where President John F. Kennedy was assassinated, was not well received by some members of the community.
Civic volunteer Lindalyn Adams is quoted in the report as stating of use of Dealey Plaza for the scene, “I don’t understand how someone who lives here, who is a resident of this city, could do such a thing.” However others do not see it as a cause for major concern. Dallas City Council member Angela Hunt is further quoted as stating of the matter, “This simply is a trivial issue that comes at a time when the city is facing so many more important issues.”
Badu is quoted by the Dallas Morning News as stating the motivation for using her location choice for the “Window Seat” video, “I tied it in a way that compared that assassination to the character assassination one would go through after showing his or herself completely… That’s exactly the action I wanted to display.”
