Coach has filed a lawsuit against Sam Moon Trading Company to stop the sale of knockoff handbags that allegedly display the manufacturer’s designs.
Dallas (WiredPRNews.com) – A major Dallas based handbag retailer has been accused of stealing the purse designs of a popular manufacturer’s brand. As reported by WFAA-TV, Coach has taken legal action against Sam Moon Trading Company, citing theft of its designs for knockoffs sold by the retailer.
Victor Johnson, an attorney for Coach, is quoted in the report as stating of the lawsuit attempting to stop the sale of the purses in question, “There are significant trademark rights that Coach has — beyond just the name of its brand — including the design and the powdered work in the products themselves.”
Sam Moon vice president Daniel Moon is further quoted in the report as stating of the allegations, “We still have not been served nor have seen the lawsuit… But we are confident that we do not sell any merchandise that infringes on Coach’s trademark.”
