Many are questioning what will become of the Texas Stadium lot after the stadium is torn down.
Dallas, Texas (WiredPRNews.com) – Texas Stadium will soon be demolished and many are wondering what fill the lot to take its place. As reported by CBS 11 News, sports fans and others have varying opinions about what will and should be built in the 80 acre space in Irving.
City of Irving spokeswoman Brenda McDonald is quoted in the report as stating of possible replacements, “Whatever replaces Texas Stadium has got to be iconic and it’s got to be big.”
As noted in the report, ideas for the new development include a residential and retail mix, another stadium, and a fortune 500 headquarters. Despite the area being deemed a prime location the city reportedly only receives legitimate developer interest approximately every six months.
