Crooner Brian Evans, one of the creators of “The Maui Celebrity Series” (www.themauicelebrityseries.com), was seen shopping with legendary superstar Cher at Whaler’s Village on Maui in this March 28th photo.
Evans, glued to the phone, discussed the series with Cher and her companions.
“Cher is an obvious pop culture icon, and having her appear at the series would be a major thrill for an island that has always adored her,” says Evans. Evans would not elaborate on the conversation.
Evans is the opening act for such stars as Jay Leno and Joan Rivers. Having a home on Maui, Evans created the monthly series along with friends Arman Zajic and Andrew Biltz. Evans is in discussions about making the show a reality TV show.
“It’s a great concept,” says Evans. “With all the nonsense on reality TV, exposing Maui to millions, following the producers around the island while we put together the show, following the stars on activities and the actual concert seems a no-brainer,” he says.
William Shatner, Roseanne Barr, and Paul Rodriguez have already attended the monthly series with full performances. Comedian David Spade joins Evans on April 30th, and tickets for that event are now on sale at www.groovetickets.com or by calling (808) 856-7973.
Evans is currently recording his major label debut as one of the new “big band crooners,” and is co-creator of “Horrorscope” with friend Ahmet Zappa, aimed at being a graphic novel, and according to The Daily Variety, a major motion picture. The theatre, which only has a capacity of just 680, has become the talk of the island. CNN and USA Today have already covered the events.
