Two companies have been criticized over asbestos work.
(UK) Two companies have received criticism over asbestos work safety. As reported by the BBC News, an industrial tribunal has been told that employees of Bridgeline Environmental Services (BES) and Bridgeline Demolition Limited (BDL) performed work at a factory that was contaminated with asbestos without necessary safety precautions being taken.
The tribunal is quoted in the report as stating of the Health and Safety Executive’s purported failure to minimize risks after the contamination was discovered, “It seems extraordinary to us that having identified a risk of serious personal injury and after sampling had shown a wide area of contamination and further that third parties (NIE) were identified as having access to the site… the HSE took absolutely no steps to minimize the risk until the tribunal expressed its disquiet and concern.”
The tribunal is further quoted as stating, “The basic function of health and safety rules and their implementation is to properly manage risk… There has been a signal failure to do so in this case.”
