The wife of the cancer-stricken film critic recently discussed how they are coping with his battle with the disease.
The wife of film critic Roger Ebert recently discussed how the couple are coping with his long-term battle with thyroid cancer. As reported by PEOPLE.com, Chaz Ebert stated to PopEater that optimism has helped them in dealing with the ordeal.
Chaz Ebert is quoted in the report as stating, “Sometimes I’m almost ashamed we feel so positive… People think you shouldn’t be so happy, because when you fall, it’s going to be that much more disappointing. But you know what? We’ll take each day as it comes. That’s one of the reasons we were so attracted to each other, because we saw that the positive attitude in each other.”
As noted in the report, Roger Ebert underwent surgery in 2006 after which he was unable to speak, after initially being diagnosed with the disease in 2002.
