Actress Helen Wagner has died at age 91.
New York (WiredPRNews.com) – Helen Wagner, known for her matriarchal role on the long running soap opera “As the World Turns” has died. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Wagner, who played on the program for over 50 years, passed away Saturday.
The program’s executive producer Christopher Goutman is quoted by the AP as stating of the star’s death, “All of us at ‘As the World Turns’ are deeply saddened by Helen’s passing…She is loved by generations of fans, and while we will miss her greatly Helen will always remain the heart and soul of ‘As the World Turns.”
As noted in the report, Wagner’s length of time on the program earned her a Guinness World Record. She opened the show in its 1956 premiere, and played the same character for 54 years.
