Carrollton, Texas – Several students and staff members at a Carrollton-Farmers Branch area school donated their hair to charity during a recent hair drive. As reported by NBC DFW News, the students and staff, as well as some parents in the community, made donations to Locks of Love, which makes wigs out of hair donations and gives them to cancer patients who’ve lost their hair due to treatment, as part of a student organized drive.
The school is quoted in the report as stating of the donations and its leadership/ philanthropic program for students, Leadership Academy, in a news release, “Sheffield Intermediate prides itself on community involvement, service and citizenship. Through the campus’ Leadership Academy, students are taught about leadership and are encouraged to be involved in philanthropy.”
