The Dallas Independent School District is reportedly planning to create schools for students who are overage.
Dallas, Texas (WiredPRNews.com) – The Dallas Independent School District is reportedly planning to create new schools for students who are overage. As reported by KERA News, the plans for two schools for overaged students are in response to a growing issue of students dropping out of school due to being required to repeat a grade or having insufficient educational skills to complete school with their age group.
Although some are skeptical about the plans, some believe that it will aid in combating a critical problem. DISD school board member Nancy Bingham is quoted in the report as stating of the move, “This offers a lot of students a lot of hope who otherwise wouldn’t have an opportunity and we would lose them to dropout.”
