The City will reportedly likely resort to job cuts and layoffs to help balance the budget.
Dallas, Texas (WiredPRNews.com) – The City of Dallas may be faced with laying off some employees and cutting salaries of others in order to balance the budget for next year. As reported by the Dallas Morning News, City Manager Mary Suhm spoke Wednesday about the likelihood that the steps will be taken.
Suhm is quoted in the report as stating of the issue, “You’re not going to be able to balance the budget without salary cuts, I’m afraid, even with a tax increase… No tax increase is going to be able to fix all the things we have to fix.”
There is a reported $130 million shortfall for 2010-2011. The City Council is expected to make a vote on a final budget in September.
