More than 1,000 jobs are being added to the Chrysler Detroit factory.
Detroit (WiredPRNews.com) – Chrysler Group LLC recently announced that it would be adding more than 1,000 jobs to a Detroit based factory. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Chrysler is expected to hire 1,100 workers at the plant to assist with the manufacturing of their new Jeep Grand Cherokee.
As noted in the report, the workers are expected to begin employment at the Jefferson North Assembly Plant in July. United Auto Workers Vice President General Holiefield is quoted by the AP as stating of the opportunities for workers following previous financial difficulty, “This day will go down in history that Chrysler is indeed the comeback kid.”
CEO Sergio Marchionne is quoted as stating in response to questions of whether the hiring is a good move due to economic conditions, “Don’t be so skeptical. It’s a good day. Enjoy it.”
