Denton, Texas – A new play is being presented to help bring awareness about gang violence. As reported by CBS 11 News, a religious play “Broken: Life in the Hood,” comprised of a cast of former gang members and addicts, will be presented to the Victory World Outreach congregation at the University of North Texas Auditorium in Denton on June 26.
Revered Eric Calloway, with the local chapter of Victory World Outreach, is quoted by CBS 11 News as stating of the production, “The purpose is to get people to recognize the problem we are having in our community with drugs and alcohol.”
Xavier Salazar, 21, who’s part of the ministry Breakaway, which is presenting the drama, is further quoted in the report as stating of turning his own life around, “From drinking, gangs to fighting I was involved in it all… It was something that was calling me to go to church and change my ways.”
