New Orleans – BP PLC has stated that it will replace the cap recently put into place to contain the oil spilling from a busted well in the Gulf of Mexico. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the company said on Monday that it would put a new cap in place amid reports that a significant amount of oil is still spilling into the sea. The current cap is reportedly collecting over 460,000 gallons of oil daily, while some estimates state up to 1,260,000 gallons are spewing each day.
BP spokesman Robert Wine is quoted by the AP as stating of growing frustrations, “We want to capture every drop of oil that is still leaking… We want to protect the coastline and repair the coastline that has been damaged.”
