New York – Oprah Winfrey is giving an aspiring television star their big break on her new network. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Winfrey and reality TV producer Mark Burnett are collaborating on a project, “Your Own Show: Oprah’s Search for the Next TV Star,” which will give undiscovered talent the opportunity to host their own talk show.
Burnett, who is credited with shows such as “Survivor,” is quoted by the AP as stating of the project, “The landscape and acceptance of ordinary people on television is widely accepted … Much in the way ‘American Idol’ finds unknown people (to be recording stars) there’s no reason we can’t find someone who deserves their own show.”
Oprah is set to end her 25-year run as talk show host in 2011. More information about the casting for the new project may be found on Oprah.com.
