Richmond, VA – Singer, actor, and sausage businessman Jimmy Dean has died. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Dean died Sunday at his home in Virginia. He was 81 years old.
As noted in the report, Dean, who was raised in poverty in a small Texas town, had a successful career as an actor and singer, including landing his own television program, “The Jimmy Dean Show.” He also had appearances in the James Bond film “Diamonds are Forever” and was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame. Dean started his famous sausage company in 1969, selling it to Sara Lee years later.
Dean’s wife Donna Meade Dean, is quoted by the AP as stating of her husband, “He was amazing… He had a lot of talents.”
