Huntsville, Alabama – The University of Alabama in Huntsville professor who opened fire on the campus earlier this year, killing three professors and wounding three others, has been charged in the death of her brother over two decades ago. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Amy Bishop, a former biology professor at the university, was recently indicted for first-degree murder for the shooting of her brother in 1986, which was previously concluded to be an accident. Authorities reopened the case following murder charges against Bishop for the three university shooting deaths in February.
Norfolk District Attorney William Keating is quoted by the AP as stating reasons charges weren’t previously brought against Bishop for her brother’s death, “I can’t give you any explanations, I can’t give you excuses, because there are none… Jobs weren’t done, responsibilities weren’t met and justice wasn’t served.”
