Chicago – Oscar winning actress and singer Jennifer Hudson recently opened up about the tragic loss of her mother, brother, and nephew in a VH1 documentary. As reported by People.com, the star spoke about the 2008 murders of her family members on “Behind the Music: Jennifer Hudson,” which aired Monday night.
Hudson is quoted in the report as stating of the tragic loss, “It’s all a blur, it was surreal… It was like I was outside of myself.”
Hudson further stated of the song she sang during the 2009 Grammy awards, “You Pulled Me Through,” I was definitely thinking of my family when I was singing that song… I could hear my brother in my head, like, ‘Jennifer, you need to kill this, you need to get up and do it.’ I knew he would be disappointed if I didn’t do it justice.”
The star, who is engaged to David Otunga, further noted that her son, who is now 11 months old, has helped her heal and remember her family.
