San Francisco – Microsoft recently announced that it would be discontinuing its KIN line of phones, which were launched just weeks ago. As reported by AFP, the social network phone will reportedly be discontinued so that more focus may be put into attracting a younger audience heavily interested in social networking online.
Microsoft is quoted by the AP as stating of the move, “Microsoft has made the decision to focus on the Windows Phone 7 launch and will not ship Kin in Europe this fall as planned… Additionally, we are integrating our Kin team with the Windows Phone 7 team, incorporating valuable ideas and technologies from Kin into future Windows Phone releases.”
Analyst Matt Rosoff with Directions On Microsoft, is further quoted as stating of the news, “I am surprised the product ever saw the light of day… I am not surprised they killed it.”
