Before she launched her own business, before the name Lulu DK traveled the lips of the fashion elite from Manhattan throughout the world, young Lulu de Kwiatkowski found inspiration in her own mother’s creativity and home, surrounded by floral prints and diverse colors.
“I grew up in a house with cranberry walls in one room, yellow in another, green, every single color…” After formal training at Parsons and travelling the world finding artistic influences in various cultures, Lulu DK began designing fabrics. Soon the opportunities increased with her hand painted designs appearing on wallpapers and handbags.
Near after approached George Matouk, Jr. In 75 years, the Matouk luxury linen business had never manufactured a print. When the world-class leader in luxury linens wanted to step up with the trends, it went to a new, but recognizable, face in world-class design. Lulu describes the creation of the Lulu DK Matouk bedding line.
“Everything is hand-painted. No computer and no help in design. All by hand on canvas. It gives a natural, organic feeling.” Then the canvas joins the core line of Matouk linens in the production process, producing Lulu DK’s designs on only the finest linen and soft long-staple cotton. “There is so much room to mix and match. There is the opportunity for each bed to look totally different.”
Since joining forces creatively, Lulu DK Matouk has put forth a variety of bedding collections in chic and fashion forward color combinations designed for both adults and infants.
Alluring to both classic and contemporary interiors, Lulu DK Matouk promises to impress. To view Lulu DK Matouk’s complete line, please visit www.PioneerLinens.com/luludk.
