U.S. – Facebook will reportedly offer items for sale though third parties after closing its Gift Shop. As reported by Newsfactor.com, the social networking site, which recently announced plans for the closing of its virtual store Aug 1, also reached an agreement with MOL Global to improve service for purchasers of online services and applications in Asia.
Vaughan Smith, director of business and corporate development at Facebook, is quoted in the report as stating of the change, “We view this agreement as a major opportunity to broaden the availability of a simple, unified currency that can be used in games and applications…Working with MOL means we can offer the benefits of Facebook credits to millions of people in Asia using a payment system that is already widely used and trusted.”
Gifts posted prior to the shut down of the service will reportedly continue to be viewed by subscribers.
