Washington – Facebook users will soon no longer be able to send virtual flowers and other gifts via the site’s Gift Shop. As reported by AFP, Gift Shop is set to close on August 1 so Facebook can concentrate more on other products.
Jared Morgenstern, Facebook’s product manager for games and credits, is quoted in the report as stating of the change in a blog post, “Closing the Gift Shop may disappoint many of the people who have given millions of gifts, but we made the decision after careful thought about where we need to focus our product development efforts.”
Morgenstern is further quoted as stating, “We’ll be able to focus more on improving and enhancing products and features that people use every day, such as Photos, News Feed, Inbox, games, comments, the ‘Like’ button and the Wall.”
