U.S. – A new study suggests walking to school may relieve stress for children throughout the day. As reported by Health Day News, researchers from the University at Buffalo found that the activity may lead to a reduction in classroom stress as well as health benefits later on in life.
Senior investigator James Roemmich, an associate professor of pediatrics and exercise and nutrition science, is quoted in the report as stating in a University at Buffalo news release, “The cardiovascular disease process begins in childhood, so if we can find some way of stopping or slowing that process, that would provide an important health benefit.”
More information about the research may be found in the August publication of the Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise journal.
