U.S. – A new study suggests water may be a useful element for weight loss. As reported by HealthDay News, researchers found that consuming water prior to eating may aid adults in losing weight. Participants in the study who drank water before meals lost approximately 30 percent more weight on average than those who did not.
Senior study author Brenda Davy is quoted in the report as stating of the findings, “Drinking more water is a pretty simple strategy that may be helpful to people trying to lose weight… We’re not saying, ‘Drink more water and the body fat will melt away’. But for people who are trying to lose weight and trying to follow a low-cal diet, it’s something they can do as part of that.”
The research was reportedly presented recently at the American Chemical Society’s annual meeting in Boston.
