Detroit, Michigan – A juror was removed from a trial after making a premature post on Facebook about the verdict. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Hadley Jons, 20, posted on her Facebook page that the defendant in the Detroit area trial was guilty before it was even over. Jons is quoted in the report as posting it was “gonna be fun to tell the defendant they’re guilty.”
As noted by the AP, the son of defense attorney Saleema Sheikh discovered the post, and Jons was subsequently replaced. She now faces possible charges of contempt.
Sheikh is quoted in the report as stating of the incident, “I would like to see her get some jail time, nothing major, a few hours or overnight…This is the jury system. People need to know how important it is.”
