Los Angeles – Fans interested in the dramatized story about the founding of the widely popular social media enterprise, Facebook, flocked to see “The Social Network” over the weekend. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), the film made its debut at number one, raking in $23 million.
Rory Bruer, head of distribution for Sony, is quoted by the AP as stating of the movie’s early success, “It really is a great start for us. This is a movie that is resonating everywhere. The reviews are the best I’ve seen at our studio in my career… It’s just one of those movies that critics and audiences alike are embracing, and I think it’s going to have a tremendous life.”
The film’s stars include Jesse Eisenberg, Andrew Garfield, and Justin Timberlake.
