Washington – President Barack Obama recently spoke on the issue of education during his weekly address. As reported by the Associated Press (AP), Obama said Republicans would cut spending in the area but it was one in which he would not compromise.
Obama is quoted by the AP as stating, “What I’m not prepared to do is shortchange our children’s education.”
As noted by the AP, the president recently announced a private-public initiative that would aid community college graduates in finding job positions matched for their skills.
“At a time when most of the new jobs being created will require some kind of higher education, when countries that out-educate us today will out-compete us tomorrow, giving our kids the best education is an economic imperative.”
