Chicago, IL (WiredPRNews.com) Chicago author Bryan W. Alaspa has announced that his first novella has been published as an ebook for the Amazon.com Kindle and the Barnes & Noble Nook e-readers. The novella is entitled MYTHOS: A Thriller and is his tribute to the H.P. Lovecraft mythology created by the popular horror writer from the early 20th century.
“Anyone who has an interest in horror fiction is aware of the influence Lovecraft has had on the modern format,” said Mr. Alaspa. “It has spawned a legion of writers who contribute their own Lovecraftian story to his mythology. I am a relatively new convert to Lovecraft’s Mythos and this is my humble attempt to write an addition to that genre. I also merged it with the hard-boiled detective genre, which is another favorite of mine.”
Previously the novella was released a chapter at a time in an episodic format on a Web site. However, this is now the first time all of the content been brought together into one place for readers to read as a complete story. MYTHOS: A Thriller tells the tale of a private detective who decides to investigate the apparent suicide of his friend and former business partner. He soon discovers a world of cults, ancient monsters, murder, and mystery.
“I think this story manages to merge the genres of mystery and detective novels into this mythology of monsters and horror,” continues Mr. Alaspa. “The great thing about Lovecraft’s Mythos is that it is so rich and so diverse that nearly every genre could be fit into it. Whatever you may think of his writing, his imagination was seemingly limitless and his list of monsters and gods is profound and an exciting source for inspiration.”
The publication of MYTHOS: A Thriller as an ebook continues Mr. Alaspa’s trend of publishing his works of fiction for digital readers. All of his prior works of fiction are now available as ebooks for Kindle and Nook, as well as apps for Kindle and Nook, which are available for Apple’s iPad, iPhones, iPod Touch and Android phones and tablets.
“I think the world of digital books is expanding faster than anyone ever thought possible,” adds Mr. Alaspa. “It has certainly opened my works up to new readers.”
Mr. Alaspa’s e-books include: After the Snowfall (a thriller), RIG: A Novel of Terror (a horror novel), Dust (a thriller), Gone (a horror novel), Stories (a collection of short stories), and Why Hockey Sucks! (a collection of humorous pieces).
