Has Charlie Sheen been busy in San Francisco?
San Francisco, CA (WiredPRNews.com) Mysterious urban artist Epelog has been targeting San Francisco with a new series of paintings, according to some media and bloggers – but is that true?
This has prompted widespread speculation on whether the enigmatic artist – who has been called, “La’s own Banksy”, has been putting up new art pieces around the city of San Francisco.
Speculation has been rife in the regional press among bloggers and readers about the two new pieces of art. One new art painting has appeared in the Castro district of San Francisco. It is the statue of Liberty with the face of Harvey Milk, one of San Francisco’s most famous and influential historical figures. “Liberty Milk”, according to the Epelog website (www.epelog.com) was inspired by one of the greatest Americans in history. Harvey Milk represents the best of America’s ideals, he struggled against prejudices and helped the human rights movement by striving to make all people equal regardless of sexual orientation.
Another art painting has appeared in the Mission District, on a wall besides a public garden. It is a rendition of Charlie Sheen riding a white tiger. While this is certainly a frivolous art piece it is also funny. Epelog believes in making urban spaces more beautiful and making something out of nothing. A tiger exploding out of garden stokes the imagination of all who see it.
Epelog’s last art piece, “Perez Hilton Love Thyself”, ignited the bloggers message boards with controversy. Many see his artwork as inspiring and a voice for political equality while others comments where homophobic and hate filled. Good art inspires conflict and Epelog is following in Banky’s footsteps of creating controversial and beautiful works of art.
