Seattle, WA (WiredPRNews.com) Released via iTunes today, Kate Borkowski’s The ‘Vodka Honey’ EP has already gained five star reviews. The ‘Vodka Honey’ EP is a six-track EP based around ‘In My Stoli’, the first single to be released from Borkowski’s debut album, ‘Beautiful Little Fools’. The ‘Vodka Honey’ EP deals with the simultaneous and, often opposite, workings of the rational and irrational mind. ‘In My Stoli’ is fraught with this ambivalence as Borkowski seems to regret a decision about to be made, “I don’t want to end up as a puddle, licking the finish from off of your floor…but then you pour me a stiff one and I get to thinking”.
The Studio version of ‘In My Stoli’ flaunts Borkowski’s haunting, yet enchanting, vocal style united with dazzling string work by John Philip Shenale. The ‘Vodka Honey’ EP offers three alternate mixes of ‘In My Stoli’ – one radio edit, and two Euro-dance mixes: The Dirty Mix and the Vodka Mix. The hypnotic Dutch Mix of ‘Worker Bees’ adds a sensual timbre and feel before climaxing with the In-N-Out Mix of ‘Beautiful Little Fool’.
The ‘Vodka Honey’ EP features a commanding list of eminent musicians such as Ben Smith (Heart); Keith Lowe (Fiona Apple); John Philip Shenale (Tori Amos); Rosemary Banks (Tori Amos); and John Morton. All tracks were mixed by Marcel van Limbeek and strings arranged by John Philip Shenale.
Borkowski’s sheer virtuosity in producing an unpredictable and inspired EP with The ‘Vodka Honey’ prior to the release of her much anticipated debut album, ‘Beautiful Little Fools’, is unparalleled.
