Linda Hoyt Joins StarWalk Kids Media as Director of Educational Content

06/23/2012 (press release: ronmaas) // Anaheim, CA // Ron Maas

Renowned literacy educator Linda Hoyt has joined StarWalk Kids Media as the Director of Educational Content for the company’s startup eBook library and streaming delivery platform.

Hoyt has developed a process for correlating the company’s growing list of eBook titles to the Common Core State Standards, vetting each title for appropriateness for subject, grade and reading levels. She will also develop a format for the supporting “Teaching Links” document that will accompany each eBook title, with suggestions for CCSS-appropriate teaching activities and further inquiry. In addition, she will be responsible for writing and editing a monthly feature called “From the Educator’s Desk” on StarWalkKids.com, with more suggestions for teachers and librarians on how to make the most of the collection for their students. Linda will also chair and direct the activities of the company’s growing Educational Advisory Board.

StarWalk Kids Media Publisher and co-founder Liz Nealon said “We are so fortunate to have an educator with Linda’s depth of experience and vision on our team. Linda has been and will continue to be a huge asset in our efforts to build and deliver a world-class library of children’s fiction and non-fiction eBooks in a format that is designed with the needs of teachers and media specialists in mind.”

Linda Hoyt brings a rich array of experiences in education ranging from classroom teaching to working as a reading specialist, curriculum developer, Title I teacher, staff developer, and Title I District Coordinator. She is the author of twenty-four powerful professional books, six video programs, and instructional resources published with Heinemann, National Geographic School Publishing and Rigby Education. Her energetic presentation style and practical strategies have made her one of the most requested literacy speakers in the United States.
