With the launch of the redesigned 2014 Nissan Rogue in November, Nissan completed a revamp of its core lineup that included five all-new models released in a little more than a one-year span. Those changes have clearly paid dividends for the Japanese automaker, which recently announced that 2013 marked its best sales year ever in the United States.
Driving Nissan’s successful 2013 campaign were not only record sales from its recently redesigned Altima, Pathfinder, Versa and Rogue, but also best-ever performances from its Juke, NV and significantly updated all-electric LEAF. Though it did not set an annual record in 2013, even the redesigned Nissan Sentra proved popular at dealerships, moving 129,143 models for a 21 percent sales increase year-over-year. Overall, the Nissan brand sold 1,131,965 units last year, an 11 percent rise compared to 2012.
“Across the board, the Nissan lineup is more stylish, refined and fuel efficient than it’s ever been, and our customers responded in a resoundingly positive way in 2013,” said Bruce Garcia, general sales manager of Mastria Nissan, a Greater Boston Nissan dealership in Raynham, Mass. “Even vehicles like the LEAF that had been taking longer to gain acceptance with buyers had a breakthrough year, so Nissan is truly operating on all cylinders right now.”
Nissan’s latest all-new model, the 2014 Rogue, returns a best-in-class 33 mpg on the highway with its 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and advanced Xtronic continuously variable transmission (CVT). Versatility has also improved thanks to an EZ Flex Seating System and an optional third row to accommodate up to seven passengers in the cabin. Should drivers want to stay wired on the road, the 2014 Nissan Rogue is available with Nissan Connect Apps and Nissan Connect with Navigation for hands-free access to streaming music, social networking and turn-by-turn directions. Those technological upgrades are complemented by amped-up exterior styling, including standard LED daytime running lights and a bold new V-bar grille.
