For 30 years, the Chrysler Town & Country has been one of the most popular choices for family transport in the United States, and to mark the minivan’s anniversary, Chrysler wants to give one lucky family member a day off from hauling around his or her precious cargo. Through May 31 as part of the brand’s Mom’s Day Off campaign, Twitter, Instagram and Vine users can employ the hashtags #Chauffeur and #MomsDayOff to explain why they or someone they know deserves a break from their domestic duties for a chance to be chauffeured in a Town & Country for one day.
Despite its title, any family member can enter to win the Mom’s Day Off contest, whether they are a mom, dad, uncle or grandmother, and the errands they run can range from taking the kids to soccer practice to picking up home furnishings. The contest winner will be announced on June 9 at http://momsdayoff.prizelogic.com, and the Town & Country chauffeur can be used for any kind of transportation, whether it is the usual daily commute or a visit to the spa.
“Even after three decades on the market, the Chrysler Town & Country continues to shake up the minivan segment with innovations, and the Mom’s Day Off contest highlights that forward-looking approach while honoring the dedicated family members who fearlessly navigate the daily hustle and bustle,” said Scott Pinnette, general manager of Central Maine Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, a dealer of new and used minivans in Maine. “The Town & Country has introduced 76 major firsts in its class since its launch, and it’s a safe bet that it will keep up that pace during the next 30 years.”
Housing a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 engine, the 2014 Chrysler Town & Country produces a best-in-class 283 horsepower while returning up to 25 mpg on the highway. Another big breakthrough in family transport will be coming from Chrysler within a few years, as the Town & Country is expected to become the first mass-produced minivan to offer a plug-in hybrid model in the United States. Chrysler Group executives recently revealed that the Town & Country plug-in hybrid should hit the market in 2016 and return about 75 mpg. Soon after, buyers will receive another versatile plug-in hybrid option as part of an all-new Chrysler full-size crossover SUV, slated to go on sale in 2017.
