Receiving the hexagonal grille and angular headlights found on its larger Fusion sibling, the forthcoming 2015 Ford Focus will already sport a bolder look than its predecessor, but its performance-focused ST model was recently unveiled with an even more aggressive air. The 2015 Ford Focus ST hatchback made its debut in late June at the legendary Goodwood Festival of Speed in England, donning sporty upgrades in both style and substance.
In addition to the sleeker design elements adorning the standard 2015 Focus, the new ST model will get standard LED signature lighting and 18-inch Rado Gray alloy wheels, as well as the option of another 18-inch alloy-wheel design with red-painted brake calipers and HID headlamps on the ST2 and ST3 trims levels with Recaro sport seats. The 2015 Focus ST also boasts enhancements to its driving dynamics, including revised electric power-assisted steering, all-new front springs, and sportier tuning on the front and rear shock absorbers. The carryover 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine will still churn out an impressive 252 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque.
“The refreshed styling of the 2015 Focus ST will better communicate just how engaging the performance of the 2.0-liter EcoBoost powerplant can be, and at the same time, the car’s overall handling will be improved with the changes to the suspension and steering,” said John Crowley, general manager of AutoFair Ford, a New Hampshire Ford dealer in Manchester. “Not to mention, buyers should still receive surprising fuel efficiency despite that responsive ride. The current Focus ST already returns 32 mpg on the highway, and that figure could increase when the EPA ratings are announced for the new model.”
Inside the cabin, the updated Ford Focus ST will benefit from many of the same changes made to the rest of the Focus family for the 2015 model year, including a reconfigured center stack and a new center console that offers more storage space and a media bin with a USB smart charging port. The ST model will add three gauges in the central-instrument pod, a flat-base sports steering wheel, ST pedals and a gear lever with a satin-chrome top.
