Is an egg really an egg? This is the great debate! While thinking about something as simple as the egg, One can find himself looking deeper into how one items mere existence can be the obvious answer to another disputed argument that plagues our world today! The egg, the round shaped nutritious food, is it REALLY an egg? Or something entirely different? I know, I know but stay with me! Let’s for a few moments dissect every part of the egg beginning with the shell. Individuals shop their neighborhood grocery store in hopes to find a container with the perfect dozen or more. And I would gander that almost every one of those peeps will open with baited breath a carton looking for the hopeful uncracked group. Sadly, more times than not, a person will find a hairline up to a Grand Canyon width crack awaiting their egg desperate heart! My question to you is…At any moment whether uncracked or cracked is this egg STILL an egg? While sitting perched so proud in its container (UNCOOKED) Is the liquid egg REALLY an egg? The egg has a yolk, egg whites and is placed inside a perfect container, however, until fully cooked has it not reached its birthright name? YES or NO? While the egg is in its liquid form does that make it any LESS of an EGG? Liquid, scrambled, poached, fried, sunny-side-up is it still an egg? I hear the crowd yelling yes, yes, it is an egg in ALL ITS PHASES. Mankind will resoundingly agree that in all its phases the egg is still an egg. We call it an egg at ANY stage with no debate!
So what about a baby?
A baby or what some like to term a “fetus” is a different story! Some say that in the early stages of pregnancy a “fetus” is not a baby because it has not fully formed..It is only a clump of cells or “Too early in the pregnancy to be termed a baby” essentially still in its liquid state. Question? If left in its perfect container in its “liquid” state is it any less of a baby? A mother who chooses to go about her pregnancy houses the “liquid” form of a baby that will in turn form a fully developed human being. Just like an egg cooked to its full capability will still be an egg. The “liquid” form of a baby is no less of a baby than the “liquid” form of an egg is any less of an egg.
So when, and during what stage did the simple logic that is given to eggs in a container on a shelf trump the logic surrounding the life of a baby? In whatever state the egg is in.. it’s still an egg..Identically, whatever state a baby is in..it’s still a baby!
Persons will tie themselves to trees. Go to bat for animals of all kinds, but when it comes to protecting our own we turn our heads and call it “A woman’s choice” I am all for women having choices…I’m all for every human being having a choice…So since we determined an egg is still an egg in all its phases and a baby is still a baby in all its phases…Then when exactly does that same right transfer to a baby who cannot speak for itself when a mother makes the choice to end its life? A mother SO FULLY committed to EVERYONE having a choice and pursuing the right to make “HER OWN CHOICE” at what time does the “LIQUID” form of a baby make its choice? Or better yet the fully formed, able to survive on its own outside of the womb, baby make its choice?
If able to communicate I’m going to guess that a baby would say that it really does not want to be pulled limb from limb, ripped to pieces, or delivered up to its neck while a Dr. inserts an instrument into its brains and cuts to pieces until the baby dies. For those who scream equality for all mankind, how about we start with the youngest of these? The babies.
