This may have been your first guess for the best smart city, however, it’s way down on the list. It’s the highest ranking in Asia though. Tokyo planned to use facial recognition technology to improve security during the Tokyo Olympics in 2020. Driverless taxis were also planned for transportation for athletes and tourists.
3. Paris
Paris is currently developing a 127-mile automated metro line system called the Grand Paris Express. The city also aims to replace its entire 4,500-bus fleet of the transport system with electric or natural gas vehicles. By 2050, this implementation will have taken place.
4. London
London is the highest-ranking European city on the list and the second-best smart city. Its mobility, transportation, international outreach, economy, etc., are all managed to an extent through smart systems.
5. New York City
New York is the smartest city on Earth today. As part of its smart system, it has an automated meter reading of its water use each day. The city has a smart solar-powered bins system to monitor trash levels. This ensures that waste pick up is regular.
