Dr. Khanna, what exactly is sweat and what is it made of?

Sweat is an electrolytic solution, mainly water, salt, some sugars, protein breakdown products and small amounts of toxins aimed at excretion.

Why does it smell?

It has no odor on its own, only when it mixes with bacteria in the sweat glands located in the armpits and inside, and these bacteria ferment the sweat in a bad odor compound. Anything that prevents the release of sweat, such as breathable and deodorant (both natural and non-natural), will eventually get a more fragrant sweat, as sweat and bacteria are now trapped and fermented under a film of the product.

Therefore, rehydration solutions contain some salt and sugar, as water is absorbed by electrolytes.

How do we deal with loss during and after sweating?
