Returning to the WWE tour and live audiences, Money in the Bank’s pay-per-view session on July 18 is the first major event of this new era. The action will take place from the Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas.

The annual event features two games in the Money in the Bank ladder, one for men and one for women, both with eight competitors. Winners will receive a suitcase that includes a contract that guarantees a shot with the title they want. This has led to the tradition of most attempts to “make money” after a champion competes and is physically vulnerable.

In addition to the ladder matches, there will be a list of several other big games that will help organize the massive SummerSlam event in Las Vegas on August 21st.

Let’s take a look at what we know – and expect – at WWE Money in the Bank.

WWE Money in the Bank matches

WWE Championship – Bobby Lashley (c) vs. Kofi Kingston: After finally leaving the competition with Drew McIntyre behind to win Hell in a Cell, Lashley didn’t even get a full day when his next challenge came up on Raw. Kingston had a solo victory over Lashley before – with the help of McIntyre and Xavier Woods – and used that to challenge Lashley, immediately getting a “yes” to the champion. Lashley won the Woods game Hell in a Cell that night, after Kingston forced him to look out of the Cell as he continued his attack on his teammate of the day.

Gross Women’s Championship – Rhea Ripley (c) vs. Charlotte Flair: When Ripley deliberately disqualified Flair from taking on the match in Hell in a Cell, Adam Pearce and Sonya Deville, WWE officials, spoke to the Raw champion. Flair congratulated Ripley on finally learning something from his actions, but vowed to swear he would make a second direct payment reservation. It is likely to add a condition to remove disqualifications from the table or put you at risk of losing your Ripley title if you have a disqualification.

Men’s money on the bench ladder match – Ricochet vs. John Morrison vs. Ricochet (Boston TBD): Qualifying matches for the Money in the Bank match began on Raw, with Ricochet, Morrison and Styles winning matches to secure their places. The losers in those games will have another chance in the final slot on the Raw side, as Drew McIntyre, AJ Styles and Randy Orton will meet in the final choice match. The SmackDown gap will also begin to fill in the coming weeks.

Women’s money on the bench ladder match – Asuka vs. Naomi vs. Alexa Bliss vs Nikki Cross (after TBD): The raw aspects are filled after a couple of games played by the winning teams in the standings. SmackDown will be four weeks old in the coming weeks.

WWE Money in the Bank predictions

Universal Championship – Roman Reigns (c) vs Rey Mysterio: This is far from a lock, as Reigns clearly beat Mysterio when he clearly won Hell in a Cell in SmackDown. That said, there are no other clear challenges at the moment and it doesn’t look like the Pigeons are ready to abandon the Table Head. The future of Reigns should clear up pretty quickly in post-Hell SmackDown editions.

Seth Rollins Vs. Cesaro: Rollins and Cesaro have handed out big matches and left a rubber match on the table to help fill the cards below. The rivalry is getting tougher and as Rollins steals the victory in Hell in a Cell he feels more reason to fight the last two.
