The surveillance video shows the attacker stabbing a Jewish man and then trying to stab Israeli police in an occupied city.
Israeli security forces shot dead a Palestinian in occupied East Jerusalem after an Israeli civilian was stabbed and tried to attack police.
Israeli Emergency Service Magen David Adom said Saturday that the victim of the stabbing was a 20-year-old Jewish man who was taken to hospital in “moderate or severe condition.”
The assailant used a knife to stab the man near the city’s Damascus gate and then “tried to stab a border police officer,” police said in a statement.
A Palestinian Red Moon spokesman said police had killed a Palestinian attacker.
The incident took place near the gate of Damascus, outside the Old City of East Jerusalem, in a crowded area where demonstrations and clashes are taking place.
The assailant was not immediately identified. He said he was a 25-year-old man from the northern Salfit West Bank who was occupied by Israeli public radio.

Images shot by a neighbor near the Damascus gate and widely circulated on social media showed a man wearing jeans lying on a sidewalk while police shot him.
The official Palestinian state news agency Wafa said the man was “killed when he was shot by Israeli police.”
A spokesman for the Palestinian Hamas group, which controls the Gaza Strip, Mohammed Hamadeh, condemned the “deliberate shooting of a wounded young man lying on the ground.”
Palestinian lawmaker Dimitri Deliani described the “cold-blooded execution of a young Palestinian man.”
The Israeli border police chief said he fully supported the officers’ response “which led to the neutralization of the terrorist and further damage to the fighters and civilians on the ground.”
After the shooting, police fired tear gas near the Damascus gate to disperse Palestinians gathered there.
The incident happened before a police officer killed by a Hamas-linked shipowner in the Old City of Jerusalem killed by police last month.
A few days earlier, security forces shot and killed a 16-year-old assailant in the Old Town and stabbed two police officers.
Israel has occupied East Jerusalem since 1967. Palestinians claim to be the capital of their future state.
