Gun crime continues to grow steadily in the U.S. as the country emerges from the blockade of COVID.

The U.S. Department of Justice has launched a new strike force aimed at cracking down on outlaws firearms traffic, Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco said Tuesday.

The new Justice Department initiative will take place on Wednesday when President Joe Biden will address the final points of the shootings and other violent crimes.

Leading candidates for the Republican and Democratic parties have expressed support for tackling crime and increasing police budgets.

Democrat striker Eric Adams, a former New York City Police Department captain, places some of the blame on anti-police slogans, which in some cities have become a modest cut in police budgets.

Adams and others say the “defense of the police” movement has damaged the law enforcement’s ability to fight crime.
