Eriksen had a heart attack in Denmark’s opening game against Finland in the Euro 2020 team.

The Danish team’s doctor said Christian Eriksen’s heart had stopped and “disappeared” before being resurrected at the European Championships with a defibrillator.

Eriksen collapsed on Saturday in the opening match of the Danish Euro 2020 team against Finland and was given a lengthy medical treatment before regaining consciousness.

“He went; we did a heart resuscitation, it was a cardiac arrest. We came back after a defibrillation (defibrillation), ”Morten Boesen said at a press conference Sunday, and fell for Eriks for testing after the fall.

“The tests done so far look good,” Boesen added. “We have no explanation as to why this happened.”

Eriksen, 29, suddenly fell in the 42nd minute of the match after a shot from Denmark was near the left line. When silence fell among the 16,000 troops, his teammates gathered around him while he was cared for on the field and then carried away on a stretcher.

The Danish players contacted Eriksen via a video conference, said Peter Moller, director of the Danish DBU football association.

Coach Kasper Hjulmand said Eriksen told him he didn’t remember much about Saturday’s fall and was eager to return to the field.

“We’d love to play,” Hjulmand said. “He said he feels like playing on the street again. Christian feels best when football is close to his feet.”

Hjulmand said the midfielder said, “I think you feel worse than me. Now I’m on the verge of training, guys.”

“Christian is in a good mood and it’s a huge doubt for the players after this uncertainty,” Hjulmand said. “There’s no doubt we’ve been on the ropes.”

Messages in favor of Eriksen, who plays for Inter Milan, have been spread.

Group B play was interrupted and eventually restarted an hour and 45 minutes later. Finland won 1-0 with only one attempt per game.

Former Danish internationals Peter Schmeichel and Michael Laudrup have been criticized by the UEFA governing team for handling the incident. Players were given the opportunity to finish the game on Saturday afternoon or Sunday.

“Looking back, I honestly don’t think we should be on the field again,” Hjulmand said. “I wondered if I could do things differently.”

Denmark canceled its scheduled training session on Sunday, but Hjulmand said they would try to return to normal habits on Monday.

He stressed that the players are planning to finish the tournament, as Denmark will play Belgium in Group B next Thursday.
