Tour of Pakistan Antilles: Holder rested, Hetmyer and Russell also away

West Indies Jason Holder has been rested for his white ball tour to Pakistan next month, and Evin Lewis, Shimron Hetmyer and Andre Russell have been left out for personal reasons, the country’s cricket committee (CWI) said on Friday.

The selectors also ruled out Fabian Allen and Obed McCoy calmly due to injuries.

The West Indies, who did not make it to the T20 World Cup finals, have selected several unchallenged players from two 15-man teams, including batsmen Justin Greaves and Shamarh Brooks, including spinner Gudakesh Motie and a very nice Odean Smith.

“There are some very talented newcomers in each format who will be able to show what they are capable of internationally,” said selector Roger Harper.

“Pakistan’s ODIs are part of the ICC ODI Super League, where the points earned are working to qualify for the ICC World Cup 2023. So these ODIs are very important to us and are being treated that way.”

The West Indies will play three T20s and three internationals a day against Pakistan starting on December 13, the first visit to a foreign country since England and New Zealand were left out of scheduled tours this year for security reasons.
