2022 WWE Day 1 card, matches, date, rumors, match card, predictions, start time, location

WWE is looking for a strong start to 2022. After skipping a PPV event in December, the promotion will kick off on New Year’s Day with a bang, as it premieres a new event called WWE Day 1. It comes down to the Atlanta State Farm Arena where almost all the champions are up and running.

With two World Cup matches already underway, Big Ek has defended the WWE Championship in a deadly four-man match against Bobby Lashley, Seth Rollins and Kevin Owens and Brock Lesnar is up for the challenge of securing a universal title for Roman Reigns. More games will be played in the coming weeks, with the rise in the men’s and women’s level expected to defend all world titles on the card.

As with all major WWE events, Day 1 will air live on Peacock. The main ticket will start at 8pm, an hour earlier after an initial show.

Let’s see what we know – and what we expect – in WWE Day 1.

WWE Day 1 match

WWE Championship – Big E (c) vs. Seth Rollins Vs. Kevin Owens Vs. Bobby Lashley: In late October, Rollins won a staircase match on Raw, securing him the title of the future. That was largely sidelined in November as it was linked to the Big E Roman Reigns and Survivor Series. Rollins announced that he would win the title on Day 1, with Owens – who recently attacked the Big E on his heel – in order to face Big E, he determined that Owens would enter the match with a victory. Owens caused Rollins to be attacked during the match, Owens was named the winner by disqualification and confirmed his participation in the 1st day title match. Lashley was furious that he was left out of the picture and won the Rollins, Owens and Big E in singles matches in a single night, earning his spot and turning the game into a four-way fatal.

World Championship – Roman Reigns (c) vs. Brock Lesnar: Reigns defeated Lesnar with the help of Crown Jewel’s The Usos. An angry Lesnar attacked SmackDown, an attack that crushed WWE officer Adam Pearce. Lesnar was suspended for his actions. After Sami Zayn won the SmackDown Reigns to decide his next challenge on Reigns, it was announced on December 3 that Lesnar would return to SmackDown. Reigns manipulated Zayn to catch the shot of Reigns on SmackDown immediately, Lesnar got the shot. On the 1st day victorious. Lesnar then took out Zayn before the match to ensure an easy victory for Reigns and Lesnar wanted to start the year with a rematch.

SmackDown Tag Team Championship – The Usos (c) vs. The New Day: Helping Reignsi with the Big E before the Survivor Series match, The Usos brought out Kofi Kingston and destroyed Xavier Woodsen’s throne, scepter and crown of the King of the Ring. With Kingston in action again, the two New Day members are looking for revenge – and another tournament – when they face The Usos on Day 1.

Raw Women’s Championship – Becky Lynch (c) vs. Morgan Book: Lynch has been in good spirits since the release of her first child since her release, having played well with almost everyone who has set foot in the ring. Morgan didn’t win Lynch in a title match on Raw, but he threw the challenge for revenge. Lynch did not initially admit it, instead of attacking Morgan, stepping on Morgan’s arm as he was stuck between the ring steps and the ring pole. After Morgan was properly engaged, Lynch accepted the rematch.

Edge Vs. The Miz: When Edge returned to Raw, he listed a number of potential opponents but left out Miz’s name. This brought out Miz, who was making his return after Dancing With The Stars. Miz gave up the sudden opportunity then and there, but in the end they both agreed on Day 1. After the match was agreed, Miz enjoyed things by playing Edgeri with a Skull-Crushing Finale.

Drew McIntyre vs Madcap Moss: Both are ready to fight to try to get McIntyre’s sword out of a table and after a game on Miracle 34th Street on Christmas Eve.

WWE Day 1 forecasts

SmackDown Women’s Championship – Charlotte Flair (c) vs. Toni Storm: Like Lynch, Flair is a champion in need of a new challenge. It seems that WWE has chosen Storm to fill that role. Storm and Flair have been messing around for the past few weeks, with Flair playing Storm Face in the post-Thanksgiving edition of SmackDown with two cakes. With no other clear option for Flair, hopefully Storm will have a chance at the title match.
