“All couples who want to do so, regardless of their sexual orientation, can live, love, marry and form a family with the dignity and legal protection they need and deserve,” Pine said.
The Chilean Senate voted 21-8 on Tuesday in favor of marriage equality legislation, with three abstentions, while the House of Representatives voted 82-20 with two abstentions.

Chile is the ninth largest country in the United States marriage equality legislation, including Canada, Argentina, Brazil, Uruguay, the United States, Colombia, Ecuador and Costa Rica.
Civil unions have been accepted in Chile since 2015, which offers many, but not all, same-sex benefits to same-sex couples.
