LOOK: Mike Tyson has been honored with a 10-foot statue of Resorts World in Las Vegas

As a boxing town, Las Vegas was the site of one of the greatest victories of Mike Tyson’s legendary career. That’s why Tyson, now 55, has made his home in Las Vegas. And that’s why Sin City pays homage to Tyson as a core element of its culture and community.

They paid tribute to the former heavyweight champion on Thursday night with the inauguration of a new statue At Las Vegas Resorts World. The state is 10 feet high and is located just outside Mulberry Street Pizzeria.

Tyson, one of the most iconic boxers of all time, was the undisputed world heavyweight champion from 1987 to 1990.

“The owner and founder of Mulberry Street Pizzeria is an avid boxing fan of Richie Palmer and believed that Tyson represented an important time in the sports world and in Las Vegas,” read the news published by Mulberry Street Pizzeria. “He thought it was time for Tyson to be honored with his state. The Resorts World team agreed on something, so they worked together to make that happen.”

It was one of the most memorable moments in the Las Vegas Tyson ring, including the infamous 1997 fight, where they disqualified Evander Holyfield after biting part of his ear.

Beyond Sin City, Tyson’s career as a boxer has already become very popular. He has been inducted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame and the World Boxing Hall of Fame.
