7 photo stories that will challenge the world view

This week, we had the honor of speaking with Michael Kamber, a photojournalist and founder of the Bronx Documentary Center, who shared with us 10 images that have marked his career as an educator and journalist. An apartment in the Bronx on Sunday killed 17 people; after the fire we saw photos showing how residents and first responders reacted.

Journalists at National Geographic tried to track down a “lazy king” (animals are often smuggled as pets), and Reuters looked at the chances of a cougar surviving as Washington state humans spread to its territory. The NPR brought together dramatic scenes from the protests in Kazakhstan, and Magnum photographer Alec Soth has a new exhibition, covered by the Guardian, about his road trips over the years. These images, not surprisingly, are wonderful. For those of us who are stuck in the house, a list of 52 places in the New York Times has been released, and how eager I am to visit them!
